The Intensive Program entitled Welltour2 «Promotion of wellness tourism - focus on elderly» includes 5 higher education institutes in 5 European countries representing the disparity of Europe from the point of socio-cultural and economic development as well as geographical diversity. Amongst them is the Department of Aesthetics and Cosmetology of ATEITH.

 

In the frame of the department’s participation in this IP, Dr. Joanna Leontaridou, Head of the Dept, along with 6 students visited the city of Tartu in Estonia, between 14/04/2013 and 27/04/2013. Students participating in the program attended for 10 days lectures by teachers from the participating institutes, researchers from the host institution and social partners. Furthermore, they visited local elderly care homes, rehabilitation centers and SPA centers and were organized into multiprofessional and multinational groups and finaly prepared presentations on relevant topics.

 

 

Cultural activities formed significant part of the IP so as to promote the European culture and citizenship. During the days of social program, all participants had the opportunity to be guided in the Estonian capital Tallinn and summer resort Parnu, go canoeing in a flooded forest and hike in a particular ecosystem. They also stayed at a farm, where among other things, had the experience of "sauna". At the end, all of the participants expressed great excitement upon their being part of such an extraordinary experience.
